Untapping the flexibility potential of large refrigeration systems

This research aims to explore and unlock the untapped potential of refrigeration systems in providing flexibility to the energy grid, by adjusting the temperature settings of refrigeration units in response to fluctuation on energy demand. This study seeks to optimize energy consumption and enhance grid stability ultimately contributing to the decarbonization goals of the European Union. Through advanced control algorithms and smart grid integration, the research will investigate the feasibility, effectiveness, and economic viability of dynamically modulating refrigeration temperatures to match varying energy supply and demand conditions. The outcomes of this research will contribute to the development of more resilient and energy-efficient refrigeration systems, ultimately fostering a more sustainable energy ecosystem.
